I am a licensed pharmacist and I graduated Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Santo Tomas. In addition, I also studied Medicine proper for 2 years at the same university; and I am currently a hospital pharmacist in a government institution for almost 6 years now where I do:
- dispensing of medicines
- prescription validation
- patient counseling
- encoding in and updating the Electronic Drug Price Monitoring System
while serving good customer service to patients and nurses. Also, I am tasked with the:
- inventory
- record keeping
- documentation
- encoding of medicines and medical devices in hospital software program
- processing of requirements for the renewal of licenses
Furthermore, I was chosen to be a member of our Antimicrobial Committee which is responsible for regulating and monitoring the use of antibiotics by following their approved standard regimens.
Before I became a hospital pharmacist, I also worked at a drug manufacturing firm and became part of their Research and Development department. Thus, I worked as a Junior Product Developer. My job was to:
- receive complaints and improvement proposals from our clients
- make changes in pharmaceutical formulas
- do experimentations using pieces of laboratory equipment
- record the entire process
- present them to my coordinator, consultant and manager
then proceed with the revised procedures.
I also worked as a Safety Surveillance Associate under the Pharmacovigilance department in Pfizer, Inc. where I processed a variety of adverse event cases coming from different parts of the globe. Hence, I used Argus as our main platform and communicate with other departments through email. Thus, sending queries and asking for requests from case managers and medical doctors became part of my daily tasks. There I honed the skills particularly:
- encoding using Argus
- paraphrasing of narratives
- categorizing cases
- careful analysis of literatures
- attention to details
- non-voice communication thru emails
- voice communication via calls
Moreover, I am a:
