I am currently assigned at the Emergency Room/Triage Department. I started my training at Triage Department (before it was merged with the Emergency Department) for 8 months. When I became a staff nurse, I am still placed in the same department. After more than 2 years, I was rotated to a different area, which is the Medical Ward. I was assigned there for 6 months. When our country was placed in pandemic, I was transferred back to Triage Department and since then it was merged with the Emergency Room Department. I am still in the same area up to this date.
The skills that I am doing in my present area and have done with my previous area are as follows:
• Assessing the incoming patients according to the dergree of urgency of their cases
• Applying first aid when applicable
• Carry out orders of the doctors for patients that are with emergent, urgent, less urgent and non- urgent cases.
• Performing CPR when necessary - Admitting patients as ordered by the doctors
• Inserting intravenous line, Nasogastric tube and Foley catheter/Straight Catheter
• Giving medications intravenously, intramuscularly, subcutaneously and orally
• Intravenous fluid and medicine computations
• Bedside care
• Able to maintain focused during stressful situations
• Proper communication skills with patients and co-workers
