My professional experience has primarily centered on bookkeeping and general accounting, enabling me to develop a strong foundation in record-to-report preparation. I have gained comprehensive knowledge of the accounting cycle, from analyzing source transactions to journalizing, recording accruals and deferrals, maintaining special and general journals, managing ledgers, monitoring petty cash and other cash advances, preparing monthly bank reconciliations and cash position reports, overseeing inventory management and control, and handling accounts receivable and payable management. Additionally, I have experience in fixed asset depreciation, payroll processing, and reconciling account schedules for financial statement preparation and government reporting.
Beyond these core responsibilities, I contributed to identifying and resolving accounting and technical challenges within my department and the broader organization. I adhered to ethical standards, company policies, and accounting principles while committing to continuous learning and improvement. I implemented cost-cutting measures by streamlining business processes, eliminating redundant tasks, and ensuring compliance with company budgets, policies, and procedures.
I played a key role in resolving internal control issues, particularly in inventory management, by investigating discrepancies between company records and physical counts. I implemented preventive measures to safeguard against loss or theft and to ensure these issues did not recur. Additionally, I addressed technical challenges in accounting software by reviewing transaction entries and optimizing the inventory management system to ensure accurate and reliable data, which is critical for the fair presentation of financial statements.
Accuracy and timeliness have always been priorities in my work. I maintain a structured approach to tasks, preventing backlogs and penalties, and ensuring that time is available for additional or ad hoc tasks aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
Despite employment gaps due to my responsibilities as a full-time solo parent, I have remained committed to professional growth. I successfully passed the CPA Licensure Examination in December 2024 and continue to pursue short online courses to enhance my technical skills, develop new interests, and strengthen my qualifications for greater career responsibilities.
