My Work Experience as a Medical Technologist:
• Check the patient’s identity and gather relevant data through interview/chart review
before specimen collection.
• Perform diagnostic procedures using different specimens such as blood, urine, stool, and other body fluids.
• Ensure that all specimens collected and submitted are of acceptable quality.
• Follow the laboratory procedure for specimen collection and handling. Read and validate results.
• Operate equipment to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Operate and maintain routine performance checks and calibration of laboratory equipment, both analyzers, and non-analyzers, and keep records of maintenance according to established policies and procedures.
• Perform quality testing according to established protocols and corrective actions.
• Analyze quality control data for the test conducted.
• Record all quality control and standard results.
• Works at the front line of the COVID-19 outbreak response and as such are exposed to hazards that put them at risk of infection.
• Collect samples from COVID-19 patients and other Emerging and Re-emerging diseases.
