• Pre-analytical: Assist in sample collection and transport. More importantly, utilizes the Health Information System (HIS) software for test requests, proper patient identification, and generation of barcodes for each sample submitted both from inpatient and outpatient.
• Analytical: Perform several routine and special laboratory procedures (manual and automated, as well as Point-Of-Care-Testing or POCT) in different sections and ensuring proper patient identification through the Health Information System (HIS) software and ensuring Quality Control.
o Clinical Chemistry: Perform different chemistry tests such as Arterial Blood Gas analysis, Electrolytes panel, Liver function tests, Drug trough tests through different automations like Vitros analyzer 5600.
o Clinical Hematology: Perform different blood tests, both manual and automated such as peripheral blood smear, complete blood count, coagulation tests (PT & aPTT)
o Clinical Microscopy: Analysis of body fluids, both microscopic and chemistry tests
o Microbiology: Perform culture, gram stain, ----------- stain, microscopy and automated identification of microorganisms (Ortho Vitros)
o Immunology & Serology: Correctly identify and ensure patient confidentiality in performing tests such as HIV tests, Hepatitis panel and etc.
o Blood Banking: Perform blood collection for blood banking; perform different tests such as basic ABO blood typing, crossmatching (both automated and manual)
o Histopathology and Cytotechnology: Perform gross observation of tissue specimens, fixation of specimens, embedding tissue blocks, and consequently staining tissue smear.
• Post-analytical: Proper result verification, performing delta checks, and reporting to the staff if flags are suspected.
