I am a registered nurse in the Philippines. From 2015 to 2018, I worked as a medical secretary/transcriptionist at Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi, primarily supporting an endocrinology doctor in an outpatient setting. My responsibilities included transcribing patient assessments, entering and maintaining electronic medical records, and interpreting physician dictation to create diagnostic test results, referral letters, and other documents. I also performed secretarial duties, utilizing medical terminology (e.g., patient assessment, history, diagnosis, radiology, laboratory procedures) and CPT and ICD-9/ICD-10 codes. I occasionally assisted other departments, including OB/GYN, neurology, ophthalmology, and family/internal medicine.
Since 2019, I have worked in the Philippines as a medical coder with a CPC license. My experience focuses on denials management. Initially, I worked on the payer side, ensuring accurate documentation and coding for insurance claims. Subsequently, I transitioned to a provider-side role, assisting doctors and facilities in correcting CPT and ICD codes and ensuring appropriate medical record documentation. All denials management experience has been with US-based accounts.
